Sadly Bergman's films spanned during the 50's all the way up to the 80's, shame, as Bergman could have really made it into today's generation; with its silly emotional silliness, confronting life's many many flaws, but I'm sorry to say things such as this are absurd and should not be taken seriously at all.
This is just a film for artsies, I wouldn't watch it.

Ingmar Bergmann created with Cries and Whispers again a greatly tense and strange atmosphere. There are just a few moviemakers who manage to make their movies like that.
It fascinated me how Bergmann accomplished the colour red as golden thread (I'm a little bit disappointed I'm not writing in German now, because the idiom "golden thread" means literally translated: red thread. That would've been a great play of words ;) )."
