CSI: Cyber-Saw

Agent Griffin Dowd: "What's he into?" Agent Jennifer Marsh: "High-end tech and low-end porn." Agent Griffin Dowd: "You sure he's a guy? If it's a women, she could be my soulmate." Psychological thrillers, such as Untraceable, are far more welcome these days than woeful gore porn films like Hostel or (god forbid) Saw with its never-ending flow of sequels of increasing mediocrity (as of 2008, Saw is up to its fifth entry...with six and seven already announced. I doubt even my great-grandkids will love long enough to witness the Saw series coming to a close). Untraceable fundamentally functions as a 100-minute episode of a police-procedural television crime drama. In the vein of psychological thrillers such as Se7en and Silence of the Lambs, director Gregory Hoblit has created a visceral...Read more

Mediocre Thriller

This movie didn't really do much for me. It's a police procedurial suspense/thriller which tries to appeal to the SAW/HOSTEL crowd with a few somewhat gruesome torture/death scenes. Someone is abducting people and broadcasting there torture and death live over the internet by use of a webcam. The cast are capable, but there's no real stand-out performances. I guess it may be somewhat of a diversion for suspense/thriller fans, but I found it too tedious and derivative of the films it borrows from. Here's the ingredients for the film: 1 part SILENCE OF THE LAMBS 1 part SEVEN 1 part SAW 1 part HOSTEL By the way, the whole premise for this movie was done before by Dario Argento in his 2004 giallo THE CARD PLAYER. I'm probably biased towars Argento, but I enjoyed his film much more...Read more

not impressed but...

Here's a new crime: kidnap someone, and broadcast that person's killing online; his/her fate is based on the number of visitors the site has. Diane Lane is an FBI agent who tries desperately to catch this vicious killer... Soon it'll become personal.

No great acting here. Diane Lane and Colin Hanks are, unlike the rest of the cast, a notch above in their performances.
Not too predictable, but something was missing all through the movie.

Not a bad viewing though. The worst scenes are when the method of killing the victims is shown, and it's different every time, so that's at least interesting.

Not so bad for the Crime/Thriller genere

It's the story of an FBI agent who tries to catch a serial killer which kills his victims faster or slower depending on the visitor-counter of his Live-Stream.

I've to say that i'm impressed that this movie did not suck. I expected it to be totaly inacurate(full of technobable etc.) and to be boring but I was proven wrong.

It's actualy a nice movie to watch, not life changing but nice.
