Prometheus update feed
“(huge spoilers ahead)
Prometheus is a very interesting film. Not just because it's very vague, and mysterious, the audience reaction of this film is as fascinating. Honestly, I really like this film. Beautiful cinematography, stunning visual effects, strong main cast performances and an overall intriguing science fiction film full of ideas and imagination.
Prometheus is set in a not too distant future, years before the events of Alien and follows a group of scientist on a remote planet seeking the mystery behind the origin of life. As they explore a cavern, they discover something more sinister than they have expected it to be. I saw this film in a gigantic screen and I am so glad that I did. The film is a visual marvel, one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen ” read more
Good special effects, poor, poor writing
“I must admit that the special effects and overall scale of the film is epic. But for crying out loud the plot is thin as paper and the writing is very very bad. None of the characters are acting in a logical way. There is no explainable motivations behind their actions and the story behind the alien race contradicts itself. After watching it I have a feeling it's just a collection of cool ideas put together without any logic to link them. The film pretends to raise some philosophical questions but it's done in a very childish way and in the end you can "choose to believe" whatever you want despite the evidence to the contrary.

The Alien franchise is unique in a sense that all the earlier films were blessed with the presence of some greatly talented directors on board. While the 1st version was the creative child of Ridley Scott the others were directed by James Cameroon, David Fincher and Jean-Pierre Jeunet respectively. So when Ridley Scott decided to come home to his most coveted genre with Prometheus expectation rose to sky high. Now does he succeeds in that is a million dollar question. Well he is able to raise certain questions with his magnum opus al right but inexplicably remained silent while answering to them. Now Scott has been instrumental while handling science fiction stuff in the past but unfortunately this time his homecoming seems less convincing. Throughout the film it gives an impres” read more
3003 Leftovers... (102 movies items)"Directed by Ridley Scott After ten years worth of preparation and countless re-writes and recasting in the part of crew and director, does such a project of immense speculation and hype, live up to it's potential? Well um, erh, maybe. --The first half of this year, all anyone seemed to be able to talk about was the intrigue surrounding "Prometheus", it seemed like every single message board I went to, there was nothing but "Prometheus" "Prometheus" Prometheus", then those months just flew by, a"
Dear Cinema Diary - Vol 3 E9 - Sept 2012 (11 movies items)"Well, this film marks the official end of my love affair with the Alien's saga in all shapes and forms. I'm going to spare myself any further disappointment by avoiding any future films. The story was well... sort of stupid and many basic plot elements don't get explained and/or explained well enough. There are far too many characters who are given very little screen time, making their actions... again... confusing. One can hope for a 4 hour directors cut collectors edition that might give this"
