"Emir Kusturica twisted epic about an underground weapons manufacturer in Yugoslavia during the World War II. The whole story is so absurd and surreal that even though it's pretty dark, you can only laugh to it. The main characters and their actors are brilliant.

A ridiculous, farcical, visual, ingenious work. Reminded me of Fellini in its tightly orchestrated near-chaoticness and absurd humour. It was hard to get into first due to the overacting but once you realize it's intentional, you're in for a real treat.
I know next to nothing about the history of Serbia/Yugoslavia but now I want to know more just to understand this film better. I get that it's a film mostly about a country under the influence "
