An average movie

It is another movie I have been tracking down for many years mostly because it was one of the very few movies directed by Steven Spielberg that I hadn't watched so far. On top of that, I have always been a huge fan of 'The Twilight Zone' so this anthology involving 4 major directors sounded pretty amazing on paper. Unfortunately, it turned out to be only a decent watch at best. Indeed, out of the ... read more

Based on Rod Serling's hit TV series, this anthology features four tales of fantasy and horror. A bigot (Vic Morrow) experiences prejudice; a man (Scatman Crothers) with special powers helps the elderly regain their youth; a woman (Kathleen Quinlan) discovers a town controlled by an odd child; and a passenger (John Lithgow) sees something horrifying on the wing of his plane. John Landis, Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante and George Miller direct.

Four horror and science fiction segments, directed by four famous directors, each of them being a new version of a classic story from Rod Serling's landmark television series. “It is another movie I have been tracking down for many years mostly because it was one of the very few movies directed by Steven Spielberg that I hadn't watched so far. On top of that, I have always been a huge fan of 'The Twilight Zone' so this anthology involving 4 major directors sounded pretty amazing on paper. Unfortunately, it turned out to be only a decent watch at best. Indeed, out of the 5 parts (4 segments and a prologue), 4 were not bad but nothing really amazing and one was just seriously weak. The prologue directed by John Landis was indeed rather misguided as it was too humorous and random and only its conclusion had anything to do with the mythical TV show. The 1st segment, also directed by Land  has a rather lame reputation because Vic Morrow and several kids were killed b” read more

Miika's Movie Diary - 2016 (134 movies items)

"Puolestani herra Spielberg voisi kaatua portaissa tänä vuonna. Elokuvamaailma ei menettäisi mitään. Paljon on isoja nimiä tänä vuonna lähtenyt vaeltamaan. Siinä ei enää paljon yhden likaisen jutkun menettäminen hetkauttaisi. Onneksi sentään Joe Danten episodissa oli hienoja tehosteita."
