Watching the film was the logical next step after reading the novel. Although the film was in the IMDb Top 250 list, I wondered if it achieved that status purely because of the worldwide acclaim of the book. I needn't have worried. Ihmitystä herättää myös kuinka nykypäivän näytteliöltä puuttuu juuri tuo karisma... read more

A masterpiece of cinema with social emotional sensitivity, revelations about the provincial America and bigotry and anti-racist messages. At the same time mentioned in the tender fatherly affection and love, make unique observations of childhood temperament and talks about the end of innocence and the first children's contact with the harsh world of adults.
Amazing perfomances of actors fr... read more

" I'm surprised myself by the fact that I haven't seen this movie before. It's a classic tale about children innosence combined with certain adult and social problems, mostly prejudice. I enjoyed this mixcure of humor, drama, tense and cruelty and I loved relationship between father and children."

"Re-watch - Nov. 23rd I vaguely recall watching this movie in English class in high school after we were done studying the book. So having an opportunity to see it on the big screen at Drafthouse was too good to pass up. And the trip was well worth it, as the film is every bit as excellent as its reputation suggests. It succeeds as an adaptation of the novel by capturing its spirit & the high points of the tale. The cast is perfect, emotions get stirred, and honestly the only thing missing was t"
