A wonderful movie. Excellent acting both just about everyone, but this movie is best known as Lauren Bacall's debut film.

Not much of a story, but the chemistry between the two leads is terrific. Lauren & Bogie would go on to star in several films after this and also have a relationship and eventually marry, despite a 26 year age gap. As it turned out, they had a fairy tale marriage... read more

" February 2nd Working my through Humphrey Bogart's filmography, I can't say I'm a huge fan of the Bogie and Bacall films (with the exception of "Key Largo?). Although not as frustratingly confusing as "The Big Sleep", I was bored. I do admit the two have chemistry, but I couldn't take any interest in the story. "

Not much of a story, but the chemistry between the two leads is terrific. Lauren & Bogie would go on to star in several films after this and also have a relationship and eventually marry, despite a 26 year age gap. As it turned out, they had a fairy tale marriage [apparently - I wasn't there see. :)] until his death 12 years later.

The movie has some wonderful dialogues, the best line being Bacall's character Slim "You know you don't have to act with me, Steve [Bogie]. You don't have to say anything, and you don't have to do anything. Not a thing. Oh, maybe just whistle. You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and..” read more
