The Adventures of Tintin update feed
2011 in Cinema (34 movies items)" Tintin is purely a soulless spectacle over substance, the plot is a transparent excuse to string together action sequences. Not even Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Thompson and Thomson could save this film. Saw in: January 2012."
Phillydude's Movie Log - January, 2012 (36 movies items)" Watched January 24th - 4:40PM 1st Viewing "You looked a little cold so a lit a wee fire" - Captain Haddock It was double feature day at the movies for me - I stayed over after the Iron Lady and watched The Adventures Of Tintin - Steven Spielberg's first stab at directing an animated movie - the story is about a mystery surrounding a model of ship called the Unicorn. I didn't see many animated movies in 2011 but this is the best of the ones I saw - it has action, humor and the the animation "

2011 Movies I've Seen (77 movies items)"This film is stellar. Motion capture animation has been done in the past with movies such as Robert Zemekis' Polar Express and A Christmas Carol. But, the animation always seemed to be a bit off to me; and I know I'm not alone on this. The characters all looked like they were zombie-like with dead eyes, especially background or side characters. Thankfully I think the balance has been hit and the animation in this style is the best I've seen. Film legend Steven Spielberg and producer Peter Jackso"
Ranking of Stephen Spielberg's Films (19 movies items)" Spielberg has reduced the simple charm of the beloved children's character Tintin to a series of dull computer generated action sequences that are barely stringed together by a plot which fails to involve the viewer on an emotional level. Admittedly, the animation is beautiful and very well constructed, however, the entire film feels like a deus ex machina. It tells a dull story horribly and, as a result, the viewer cannot help but feel that the film is a coldly calculated spectacle. Saw in J"

Well worth seeing despite its flaws
“"There's a clue to another treasure. How's your thirst for adventure, Captain?"
Created in 1929 by Belgian cartoonist Hergé, Tintin is an internationally beloved literary character in virtually every part of the world except America. Enter Steven Spielberg (back in the director's chair for the first time since 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) and Peter Jackson, who've collaborated to give Hergé's creation new life in a glossy, mainstream Hollywood extravaganza hoping to appeal to both newcomers (Americans included) and established fans. The result is difficult to dislike, with the pair of filmmaking heavyweights using phenomenal state-of-the-art motion capture technology to vividly bring to life this world of danger, adventure and sleuthing.

Films I saw in 2012 (33 movies items)" The Adventures of Tintin only has a plot because it requires a pretence to string all of the tedious action sequences together and synsethize it into a not-so-cohesive family film with an intentionally ambiguous ending which leaves the possibility for a sequel. Spielberg, I am disappointed. Saw on January 4th."
Movie Diary: 2012 (68 movies items)"Jan 4 @ Theatre (First Viewing) I can't view this as anything but a disappointment. It was a reasonably entertaining movie, with some great moments but as someone who knows the Tintin books inside out, it was a rather jarring experience. The movie started off as a modified version of 'Secret of the Unicorn', then jumped into the story for 'Crab with the Golden Claws', then back and forth for the rest of the movie. The movie started off as a modified version of 'Secret of the Unicorn', then jumped into the story for 'Crab with the Golden Claws', then back and forth for the rest of the movie.
We got all the familiar Tintin motifs and characters (except for Professor Calculus) but the result is less than the sum of it's parts. It was as if it was song made by mixing a Led Zeppelin song, a Pink Floyd Song and a song by Sarah McLachlan... despite all the beauty of the individual songs, the result will be something ugly.” read more
