It has been a while since I have watched this flick and, to be honest, I think I might have been too young when I first watched it. Indeed, at around 14 years old, I started to watch the major classics and I watched them ferociously at a very quick pace. The problem is that, even if a movie is great, sometimes, the timing is not right and it goes way over your head and I think that’s what happen... read more

The first installment of Polish cinematic genius Krzysztof Kieslowski's Three Colors trilogy, Blue stands for liberty (in the French national motto) and is the first color of the French flag. A young Frenchwoman (Juliette Binoche) tries to uncover her famous composer husband's secret life after he dies mysteriously. Each step takes her both closer to and further from the truth as she journeys on a path ultimately leading to self-discovery.

30 From 93: My Favorite Films From 1993 (30 movies items)

"The Three Colours Trilogy was an emotional and ambitious project for famed Polish director Krzystof Kielowski in which he aimed to create three stories based on the three political ideals in the motto of the French Republic: liberty, equality, fraternity. Which is why each film is titled on the colors of the French flag (Blue, White and Red). The first installment, Blue, focuses on liberty and tells the story of a Parisian woman who has lost both her husband (a famous composer) and her daughter"

" Notes: At around 14 years old, I started to watch the major classics and I watched them ferociously at a very quick pace. The problem is that, even if a movie is great, sometimes, the timing is not right and it goes way over your head and I think that’s what happened to me with this flick. That’s the tricky thing about Krzysztof Kieslowski’s work, it is really interesting and intriguing, but not always really easy to digest, I’m afraid. I mean, it is full of symbolic and sub-text and, "

Sininen symboloikin vapauden ohella mm. t"
