"Certainly, in the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful."

Rob Reiner's celebrated "rockumentary" This is Spinal Tap is an eccentric, innovative cinematic creation that justifiably generated its own individual genre. The film rapidly reached its cult classic status and is still held in extraordinarily high regard over 20 year... read more

A good movie

For me, it was really one of those cases when you heard about the movie for years and you built up such high expectations. Did the movie live up to them ? No, not really. I mean, it is a good movie and it is definitely original, well done and all but honestly, I didn't think it was that hilarious. I smilled, yes but did I laugh my ass off ? No. To conclude, it is probably not my kind of humor but ... read more

My Favorite 199 Films From The 80's, y'all. (199 movies items)

"Probably the most ultimate rockumentary mockumentary film ever. This Is Spinal Tap is a film that follows an aging rock band called Spinal Tap (duh..!) around as they try to keep it together, keep it real & keep it rocking. And abysmally failing. This is a movie that works so well with it's premise because not once does the story pause to try to & proclaim to it's audience, "Hey, look at me, I'm being funny!". It doesn't have time actually, since it's too busy trying to fill every second of fi"

James's Top 30 Favorite Films (Detailed Version) (30 movies items)

"Marty DiBergi: What do you call this? Nigel Tufnel: Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump". "It's the story of a musically-pretentious and unoriginal rock band, Spinal Tap. It's shot in the style of a documentary with a fictional director and a fictional band..." Marty DiBergi: The review you had on "Shark Sandwich" which was merely a two word review. Just said, "Shit Sandwich". "And follows the rise and fall of their career. Their drummers keep dying, they're cursed with a dismal bla"

Filmsite's Greatest Funniest Movie Moments/Scenes (224 movies items)

"The famous "These go to 11" scene in which legendary bogus heavy-metal British rock group singer and lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) brags about his very special Marshall amp to rockumentary, cinema verite film-maker Marty Di Bergi (Rob Reiner) - boasting that the amplifier can go "one louder" up to a volume setting of eleven ("These go to 11"); and his blank response to Di Bergi's query why they just don't make 10 louder; also, the scene of their arrival in America to endorse th"
