This movie won as Oscar for special effects, obviously the genius of special effects George Lucas was not around those days, but naturally the special effects were outstanding for the time it was made to win an Oscar. A sweet love story is the underlying theme of this war movie! It is a sweet love story. It is a classic for your movie library!

My Movie Diary 2011 (279 movies items)

"Jan.18 Vintage Hollywood war movie based on a true account during the US' retaliation after Pearl Harbor is long in preparation, longer in the survival mode and 30 seconds actual action. It is star-studded, including Spencer Tracy as James Doolittle earning stars on his shoulders. Van Johnson is the main character, supported by up and coming stars Robert Walker and Robert Mitchum. The stars are enough for a respectable war movie night: Van Johnson being Van Johnson, some overacting on Phyllis T"

Good Historical Movies (22 movies items)

"As a biographical movie, it's awful. As an enjoyable drama, full of heart-string tugs, then it's good. There are some basic facts present, but the rest is fancy."
