“This movie literally used to be my all-time favorite. No equals, my all-time favorite. Unfortunately, that soon changed after about five viewings. It may not be my all-time favorite, but I can tell you that this film is pretty much perfect. It is the single most touching and heart-wrenching film I've ever seen, thanks to Rourke's magnificent, tour-de-force performance. Seriously, he gave an amazing performance, one on par even with some of De Niro's best. The direction is fantastic, and you could see Aronofsky's evident skill in storytelling and direction, and you could also see the writer's skill in writing. This is one of the most heartfelt and beautiful screenplays I've ever heard. Anyways, this is a true modern masterpiece and it is in my top ten of all time. Just about perfect.” read more

It touches me in a way no other movie can or ever will, and Rourke gives an amazing performance, perhaps one of the greatest of all time.
