One of the most powerful films of 2006. If you didn't understand the troubles in Ireland before, you will by the time the end credits roll. Ken Loach and his lead 'Cillian Murphy' deserved awards recognition for this film.

A very good movie

After years of bringing movies to the Cannes Film festival, Ken Loach finally received the coveted Golden Palm thanks to this flick. Did it deserve it? It is difficult to tell since I have not seen all the movies in competition for that particular year. What I do know is that it is a damn fine movie. The directing is sober and completely efficient and the actors all deliver some very good performa... read more

"I'm very disappointed in myself that I hadn't watched this movie earlier but I find movies about Ireland's struggle completely heartbreaking and this was nothing less than that. Loved Cillian Murphy in this too."

It is difficult to tell since I have not seen all the movies in competition for that particular year. What I do know is that it is a damn fine movie. The directing is sober and completely efficient and the actors all deliver some very good performances. I have a weak spot for movies dealing with politics so I thought that the story was rather spellbinding. Definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in Ken Loach's work.” read more
