One of the most powerful films of 2006. If you didn't understand the troubles in Ireland before, you will by the time the end credits roll. Ken Loach and his lead 'Cillian Murphy' deserved awards recognition for this film.
After years of bringing movies to the Cannes Film festival, Ken Loach finally received the coveted Golden Palm thanks to this flick. Did it deserve it? Description:Ireland, 1920. Damien and Teddy are brothers. "I'm very disappointed in myself that I hadn't watched this movie earlier but I find movies about Ireland's struggle completely heartbreaking and this was nothing less than that. Loved Cillian Murphy in this too."

Ken Loachin Kultaisen palmun voittanut teos Irlannin vapaussodasta ja sitä seuranneesta sisällissodasta on varsin perinteisen oloinen humanistinen ja sodan pahuudesta sekä taistelun välttämättömyydestä kertova elokuva. Jotenkin poikkeukselliselle elokuvakerronnalle haiskahtavia juttuja tästä ei tullut juuri poimittua.
Silti teos on tavanomaista paremmin kirjoitettu ja erityisen kiehtovan siitä tekee oikeasti tehokas "veli vastaan veljeä" -asetelma, joka on kieltämätt"

I have a weak spot for movies dealing with politics so I thought that the story was rather spellbinding. Definitely worth a look, especially if you are interested in Ken Loach's work.” read more
