“When I was in Dublin last October, it was that time of the year when in several areas wicker men were built and burned. Luckily only for celebration purposes, not human sacrifice. Unfortunately I didn't have time to join any of the celebrations but I bet it would have been magnificent. The one thing that troubles me with this movie is the undertone of putting down paganism and presenting pagans as some sort of religious nuts who believe in all sorts of gods and hug trees and what else. I think it's more about respecting nature, celebrating year cycles and not hurting a living soul. Granted, that wasn't true in the old days but now wicker men are part of music festivals etc.
