I was actually really surprised because I thought it would be trashier then it actually was. It turned out to be quite engaging in some parts in a trashy sort of way. Like a trashy soap opera (like the Bold and the Beautiful for instance ewww) that you want to stop watching but you can't look away from. I remember reading the book when I was a kid and I thought it was pretty awesome. Of course, the movie is definitely not as good as the book but it is still watchable. I enjoyed The Time Machine and its focus on simplicity and special effect instead of heavy time travel contradictions and fancy plots.
