Newman & Redford

Paul Newman and Robert Redford are my two reasons for watching this. I don’t recall seeing such astonishing, mind-blowing performances.

The witty dialogue, the soundtrack, the themes of loyalty and deception are the other reasons.

Review of The Sting

The Sting is an ideal example of a fun, forgettable comedy. It's reasonably entertaining, it's pretty clever, and it's well acted. It's no masterpiece, and the twists and characters may feel overused now, but The Sting is still a decent way to spend 2 hours.

Master con man, Johnny Hooker seeks revenge and reward to scam Doyle Lonnegan, a gang leader who killed Hooker's long time cri... read more

A Movie That Doesn't Swindle You

I always felt that scripting a movie that focuses on a successful elaborate con-job really requires an exercizing of creativity from the writer. Bringing in all the elements of the characters & acts to pull off a scheme that is both credible in it's enactment & at the same time fascinating in it's grand unfolding is a balancing act on a extremely narrow margin.
This was one of the 1st. ones... read more

Description: Johnny Hooker is a young con-man who is being taught by Luther. One day they pull one of their con jobs and net themselves a huge roll. What they don't know is that the man they conned is the courier for a numbers runner. And it turns out that the boss, Doyle Lonigan, considers it an attack on him and orders all the people involved te ... (more)

Total Film's 30 Longest Sequel Gaps (30 movies items)

"Sequel: The Sting II (1983) How Many Years Between Sequels: 10 years. Do They Acknowledge The Gap? Sort of but not really. This sequel changes all of the first names of the lead characters (and recasts them, obviously) while also retroactively amending some of the events of the first film. Weirdly, nobody seemed to mind - the film received positive reviews and even earned an Oscar nomination for its musical score. "The Sting II is inspired by and is an expansion of the first Sting, rather th"

"May 04, 2014 Polish title: Żądło (The Sting) Great. I'm still waiting for the course of events with real interest. Great Paul Newman. The ending was very successful, I thought for a moment that the whole project will fail, but I'm nice surprised about what I saw."
