"You are the twelfth in a long line of governesses who have come here to look after my children since their mother died. I trust you will be an improvement on the last one. She stayed only two hours." Directed by: Robert Wise Starring: Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, Eleanor Parker, Richard Haydn, Peggy Wood Genre: Biography/Drama/Family/Musical Running time: 174 minutes My review: Maria is a failure as a nun. I don’t sound anywhere near as good as she does, in fact, I sound like what would happen if Green Day decided to cover showtunes…but it’s the joyousness of Andrews’ performance that enraptures me so. It’s one of my all-time favorites, and, I think, one of ...Read more
