Although 1978's Superman and Tim Burton's Batman were massive money-makers, other endeavours were less successful at the box office. One such financial flop was 1991's The Rocketeer, a Disney-produced adaptation of ... read more

Good comic book movies are still the exception and this movie is one of those exceptions. I never read the comics so I don't know how literally faithful it is, but in spirit it's as faithful an adaption as you could have hoped. It's as much an homage to the time as it is the the pulp movies/fictions of the time. The art-deco mini movie poster is a classic, too.

All the actors do ... read more

I don't get it... No disrespect but when you have Superman, Spider-man, Batman or the X-men why would you bother with the Rocketeer to make a comic-book adaptation ?!? Even though, nowadays, super-heroes are immensely popular and big business in the box-office, they actually made some of those also in the 90's but they always flopped. Somehow, instead of focusing on the popular characters I mentio... read more

" LAST WATCHED: 11/27/2016COMMENTS: As I've been working on redoing my movie list, I came across this one on my list and I thought, "Man! I haven't seen that one in years; I should watch it again." Here I am. I forgot how entertaining it was. I also noticed that Jennifer Connelly looked a lot like Anna Popplewell from the Chronicles of Narnia movies.GRADESACTING: BSTORY/PLOT: ASOUNDTRACK: BSET/COSTUME DESIGN: A (loved Connelly's white dress!)ENTERTAINMENT: AFAVESCHARACTER: Peev"

What I like best about this straight from the comic-books movie is that it's just that; straight from the comic-books. These days, comic-book properties are changed so much, that the comic version and the film version look almost like two different characters. This film seemed to go out of it's way to "

BradWesley123's Movie Journal- May 2015 (40 movies items)

" Netflix- 1hr. 48min. First Viewing It's often hampered by a hit-or-miss script that leans too heavily on built-in nostalgia for old-Hollywood serials, but when The Rocketeer gets going (especially in it's final act) it's a fun, high-spirited throwback to an age where all a blockbuster need was optimism.
