''And so I have you... I have you.''

A post-apocalyptic tale of a man and his son trying to survive by any means possible.

Viggo Mortensen: Man

Kodi Smit-McPhee: Boy

The Road(2009) aptly adapted from Cormac McCarthy's Pulitzer Prize novel, Australian Director John Hillcoat, the man behind The Proposition, helms a virtually depressing yet... read more

"We are not gonna quit. We are gonna survive this."

Joel & Ethan Coen's 2007 project, No Country for Old Man, was an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Cormac McCarthy, and earned an Academy Award for Best Picture. Prior to this, McCarthy's novels had been predominantly ignored by moviemakers, as his prose had been perceived as challenging to cinematically adapt. 2009's The... read more

A good movie

It must be the most grim and realistic apocalyptic movie I have ever seen. Viggo Mortensen delivers, again, a very good performance and the directing is very well done. I liked the story but it still remained the weakest point of this movie, especially, the end which didn't make much sense to me. However, it remains a good movie and it is definitely worth a look.

“I found this movie to be hauntingly beautiful, it is a harsh tale of survival. You don't know what happened all you know is that mankind is dying, the earth is dying and Viggo Mortensen who plays the man is trying to get his son to a safe haven which he thinks is south. Every step they take is about fighting to survive, they have to scavenge for food escape cannibals. The Man also has to teach the boy how to survive on his own, this is a really chilling yet beautiful tale of survival in a world where all you have is the fire as the man says or hope of something better. I loved Viggo Mortensen, he was fantastic as usual but for me young Kodi Smit-McPhee stole the show. For a young actor to give such a performances was wonderfull, he is a young actor to look out for. This movie is a fascinat” read more

Movie Reviews (part 4) (50 movies items)

" The Ups: Atmospheric post-apocalyptic survival movie. Spare, melancholic soundtrack from Nick Cave & Warren Ellis. Robert Duvall and Guy Pearce are almost unrecognizable in small supporting roles. The Downs: The ending almost feel unrealistic hopeful. "

"19.02. DVD, 1st viewing DIRECTED BY John Hillcoat Above average Hollywood film with engaging visuals and a pretty fascinating setting. Just kind of hollow, cliched and the boy is annoying as fuck. Needs more cannibals, too - the thrilling scenes here were the best. "

"A father and son go on a journey in a post-apocalyptic world to reach the south in hope for a better future. What they experience along the way is human brutality and selfishness, but also hope and each other. The escape scenes were nerve-wrecking, as were the people who caused it; evil, selfish people. The kind that shows his true colors when it's every man for himself. I kept picturing myself in those situations and asked myself; what would I do if that were to happen to me? I hope I never fin"

The son was really poorly-written and irritating to me the whole movie.
