Terrifying and eternal, The Omen is an immortal classic of the horror that overcame the fashion of horror movies with the supernatural theme/demonic of the 70’s in a great production. Telling the frightening story of an important politician who engages in a frantic journey after discovering that his adopted son is the antichrist, then humanity is in danger. The film has good performances from th... read more

A classic

After watching the remake which was terribly underwhelming, I was really eager to check the real thing. First of all, I was really surprised how little you see this ‘Devil’ during the whole movie when he is in fact the central character. Even though it was surprising, I was still able to understand this choice. Indeed, since you are dealing with a child, you can’t really risk that the audien... read more

"When the Jews return to Zion
And a comet rips the sky
And the Holy Roman Empire rises,
Then You and I must die.

Turning man against his brother

When Katharine has a stillborn child, Robert is approached by a priest at the hospital who suggests that they take a healthy newborn whose mother has just died in childbirth.

" A really atmospheric, and creepy horror film. And a slow burning one as well. The sequels (with the exception of part four, are pretty decent). The remake is kind of meh, however. "

"17.4. Movie that's hard to review. In other hand this movie is very dated. The dialogue is weak, Lee Remick does his oldschool 50's stage acting and the pace is dreadful. BUT. There's so much goodness. Bleak ending, one of the best fourth wall breaks of all time, idea of Damian's mother being a JACKAL, cool 70's decapitation scene, Billie Whitelaw... "

" *A Numbers Game Different cultures revere or fear different numbers: 666 is the number-of-the-beast, bad luck comes in threes, Friday the 13th is unlucky – y’know the drill. Thirteen is unlucky because 12 is thought to be the divine and complete number. But Italians actually hate Friday the 17th. In China, the word for #4 is similar to the word for death, so it’s avoided; same deal goes for Japan and the #9. Go figure."

" Watched October 8th - Library DVD - Rewatch "For everything holy, there is something unholy - this is the essence of temptation." - Monk Unlike A Nightmare on Elm Street, I do remember watching The Omen the first time, although I did forget some things, which led to some jolting surprises this time around - this is the movie that more than anything contributed to a bit of a phobia I have had about the number 6, which is why I have avoided watching it again up until now - but it is an absolute"

Movie Reviews (part 10) (50 movies items)

" The Ups: One of the better "evil child" horror movies out there with a excellent cast and several surprising (for it's time) gory sequences. Seeing David Warner's decapitated head spinning around for an eternity is an image not to be forgotten. The story is also engaging about the eternal biblical struggle between Good and Evil. Jerry Goldsmith's epic "Requiem" music is also a must for the ears. The Downs: The ending that pulls no surprises. "
