“In “The Mist,” based on yet another Stephen King story, the horror master’s favorite spot Castle Rock is suddenly enveloped by a strange mist. In your normal King book, character intros usually take about 6 chapters, but Darabont needed only a few minutes to set the stage and pull out the curtains. In the mist lurks monsters and in our heroes and anti-heroes lurk monstrosity.
They get trapped inside a country-size supermarket awaiting more death than salvation. In fact, across the story, hope eventually vanish, they face the unknown until reclaimed by the ironic twist in the end—the already popular great expectation ere watching the movie. Films That Surprised Me (17 movies items)"One of the most misleading film i have ever watched. It strted on a very ordinary note and but the end was terrific. Trivia: In the opening shot of the film, David is painting in his room. The picture he's drawing is a design from Stephen King's Dark Tower series of the gunslinger Roland. Another design in the room is that of the poster of John Carpenter's The Thing (1982). John Carpenter also wrote and directed The Fog (1980), which shares obvious themes with The Mist. "

The film is very, very good and not so focused on terror and tentacles, but the reactions of people in desperate situations and how to change the psychology of suffocating under the pressure of events beyond the physical. Eventually we may not be as civilized and we divide our thin threads from the back to the sovereignty of the instincts.
