Review of The Lost World: Jurassic Park

The Lost World, the first sequel to 1993's Jurassic Park is an exhausting, thinly scripted film, that depends entirely on it's action sequences and special effects. Now that I've got the critique out of the way, let me just say that I had a blast watching The Lost World, the rare sequel that improves on the original. The Lost World may be missing some of the majesty and inventiveness of it's prede... read more

I read the book first, and got excited about the movie coming out. Like most other adaptations, they can't put every single detail into the movie, and the one thing that I really wanted to see was one of those things.

There was a dino that had chameleon genes, so it was able to change color to match the environment (in case you weren't aware). How great would that've been on the big... read more

Now I recently acquired the books for free, from a giveaway thing. So I read the first and enjoyed it, then I read the second and LOVED it. I simply loved the character of Dr. Levine, and the kids. I imagined parts in the book on the main screen, like when the raptor sniffs the rapper and slowly looks up, scowling. But did I see that? No. Did I even see Levine? No. Arby? No.

Description: Four years after the failure of Jurassic Park on Isla Nublar, John Hammond reveals to Ian Malcolm that there was another island ("Site B") on which dinosaurs were bred before being transported to Isla Nublar. Left alone since the disaster, the dinosaurs have flourished, and Hammond is anxious that the world see them in their ... (more)

Review of The Lost World: Jurassic Park

“The Lost World, the first sequel to 1993's Jurassic Park is an exhausting, thinly scripted film, that depends entirely on it's action sequences and special effects. Now that I've got the critique out of the way, let me just say that I had a blast watching The Lost World, the rare sequel that improves on the original. The Lost World may be missing some of the majesty and inventiveness of it's predecessor, but The Lost World is more fun, and the dinos are just as thrilling the second time around.

4 unfortunate souls make the dangerous decision to go to Isla Sorna to observe and document the dinosaurs living on the island. Among those five are Ian Malcolm, who had been to the island before, and had been nearly killed as a result of the reptilian beasts. He's hesitant to return, but ” read more

My Movie Diary: 3/13 (Closed) (50 movies items)

"3/10/13 Rewatch Well, I decided to make it a Jurassic night at the movies and watch the whole trilogy. You know, this film gets a bad rap and it's really not bad. Granted that I was just as disappointed as anyone that they changed Goldblum's character so dramatically but, at least, he was in the film. Lost World has many redeeming qualities. Pete Postelthwaite's great white hunter character was great! Vince Vaughn, in my favorite role for him (to this day). Peter Stormare and Richard Schiff we"

Insignificant Sequels (12 movies items)

"The Lost World isn't a bad movie. But the plot feels forced, like maybe there shouldn't have been a sequel in the first place. There is more action and more characters, but it doesn't make the movie any better than the first. In fact, the most interesting and memorable characters are played by Pete Postlethwaite and Peter Stromare- Tembo and Stark- minor characters. The relationship with Ian Malcolm and his daughter seemed forced- like maybe the producers forced a child into the storyline, w"

Top 10: Jeff Goldblum (19 movies items)

" With the success of Jurassic Park, the release of Lost World was met with great anticipation. While it, obviously, did just fine financially and paved the way for a third Jurassic flick, it was not quite what I expected; it did possess, however, a host of fantastic actors, in wonderful roles, and the prerequisite, phenomenal special effects. The makers took the most interesting character, by far, from Jurassic Park (Goldblum's Ian Malcolm) and gave him the lead here. They surrounded him wi"

7 Disappointing Movies That Should Have Been Great (8 movies items)

" What We Thought Before: Given the huge success that was Jurassic Park, who wouldn’t want Spielberg to return for another slice of dinosaur-based mayhem? And with Jeff Goldblum – definitely the original film’s best and most enjoyable character – in the lead? Yes please. What We Got: Something that feels like it’s trying to be a Steven Spielberg film by somebody who isn’t Steven Spielberg. A surprisingly hollow affair from the sentimental master, devoid of the magic that surrounded "
