Review of The Lost World: Jurassic Park

The Lost World, the first sequel to 1993's Jurassic Park is an exhausting, thinly scripted film, that depends entirely on it's action sequences and special effects. Now that I've got the critique out of the way, let me just say that I had a blast watching The Lost World, the rare sequel that improves on the original. The Lost World may be missing some of the majesty and inventiveness of it's prede... read more

I read the book first, and got excited about the movie coming out. Like most other adaptations, they can't put every single detail into the movie, and the one thing that I really wanted to see was one of those things.

There was a dino that had chameleon genes, so it was able to change color to match the environment (in case you weren't aware). How great would that've been on the big... read more

"Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts. Then later there's running and screaming."

To this day, 1993's Jurassic Park stands as one of the all-time greatest blockbusters in history, and its impact on popular culture cannot be overstated. With its Tyrannosaurus-sized box office returns and bevy of critical acclaim, a sequel was inevitable, yet a follow-up was always going ... read more

The film picks up four years after the disaster at Jurassic Park. On a nearby island, dinosaurs have secretly survived and been allowed to roam free but now there is a more ominous threat--a plan to capture and bring the dinosaurs to the mainland. John Hammond, who has lost control of his InGen company, sees a chance to redeem himself for his past mistakes and sends an expedition led by Ian Malcolm to reach the island before the mercenary team gets there. The two groups confront each other in the face of extreme danger and must team up for their own survival in a race against time.

Viimeinen elokuvapäiväkirja 2018 (261 movies items)

"16.7. (Kirjasto/BD) Surullisesti yritin puolustella tämän elokuvan olemassa oloa avovaimolle.

"The sequel to Spielberg's mega-blockbuster may not be as good as the original and the ending is more than a tad ridiculous but there are moments when the film manages to outstrip the first film in tension. It's a masterclass in Spielberg's power as a director, to build suspense (the truck over the cliff scene a perfect example). A decent cast led by Jeff Goldblum, with a young Julianne Moore and Vince Vaughn, as well as the mighty Pete Postlethwaite hold it all together."

"16.5. Blu-ray Uusintakatselu. Tää on mulle henkilökohtaisesti tärkeimpiä elokuvia. Ostin Anttilasta (rip) tän vhs:n vuonna '98 ja katselin vähintään viikoitain hyvän tovin. Lapsuuteni toteemeja. Yllätyin, kuinka hyvin vei vieläkin mukanaan, vaikka tietty muistin hyvin pitkälti ulkoa edelleen. Ekat puoltoista tuntia onkin ihan tosissaan viihdyttävää sekä nautittavaa dinosaurushuumaa. Loput onkin sitten juoniaukoissaan niin typerää, että vallan vituttaa."

Movie Reviews (1001-1050) (50 movies items)

" It is obvious that Spielberg made this one just for profit. It lacks any heart or soul and is one of the director's worst films as the film is completely on auto-pilot. The film consist only of action set pieces that probably was leftovers from the first film / book that they wanted to do but didn't get to work into it. The ending is obvious an attempt to update "King Kong" with a T-Rex. A lot of the plot doesn't make sense and has serious logic bursts too. I do like the darker atmosphere and c"

" TITLE OF WRITTEN WORK: The Lost World PUBLISHED FORMAT: novel AUTHOR/CREATOR: Michael Crichton ORIGINAL PUBLICATION YEAR: 1995 HAVE I READ: Yes NOTES: As someone who has read the novel several times, I can assure you the only thing the film has in common is the name and a small handful of the characters. It's a very, VERY, loose adaptation that bears no resemblance to the novel. I read in an interview somewhere that Crichton had never had any desire to write a sequel (to any of his n"
