A good movie

Since  I kept hearing some pretty wild things about this flick, I was quite eager to check it out. Eventually, it turned out to be a rather dark comedy constantly filled with some really weird scenes and some rather funny bits here and there. It was clearly something original and I really liked the fact that the director managed to create a dystopian future without one single futuristic gadget or... read more

¿Why success spoiled Giorgos Lanthimos? Artificial, incoherent, confusing, it is not a convincing world as in "Canino"; the stars are wasted. I preferred the unknowns -for non greeks- stars of his first films.

" DVD- 1hr. 59min. First Viewing While I'm unable to say that I was as enamored by it as some, the humor was a little to black for me, The Lobster is highly original, funny, and perceptive. It's understanding of "love" is highly insightful, though pretty damn depressing, though it's satire is a bit uneven at times. The cast is superb though, with Farrell leading the way, giving one of his finest performances. Monthly Wesley AwardsBest Actor- Colin Farrell Best Original Screenplay- Giorgos Lanth"

No one can deny that The Lobster is a mature and intelligent film with a excelent presentation, theme exploration is made in a very subtly way, has a distopic world more than well explored and presented, the attention to detail it's very impressive: The directing shows a very unique talente, the soundtrack (although being a bit repetitive sometimes) is very atmospheric most of the time and the cinematography is very well made.

"Alternatif bir yakın gelecekte geçen filmde Yorgos Lanthimos bizi çok ilginç bir hikayeye götürüyor. Bu dünyada yalnız insanlar istenmemektedir ve görüldükleri yerde tutuklanarak tuhaf bir otele götürülmektedir. 45 günlük süre zarfında kendilerine bir eş bulamayanlar ise, bir hayvana dönüştürülerek ormana salınmaktadır. The Lobster

“Don’t take this as a sign that I disliked The Lobster, but what the fuck was this movie?   Not only is there a ludicrous high concept, but the entire thing is a sick joke about the societal pressures of coupling up and romantic entanglements. The whole thing alternates between deadpan, blacker-than-midnight humor and an uncomfortably twisted sense of danger. I’m not sure if the entire thing works, or if it eventually collapses under the strain of its own artistic reach, but The Lobster had me enraptured with its strangeness and perversity for the entire duration.   The Lobster’s wild concept comes roaring out the gate as a woman angrily shoots a goat, who I guess was an ex or something at one point? Anyway, we then meet David (Colin Farrell) as he checks into a hotel, where he ” read more

" It's weird as hell and definitively not everyone's cup of tea. It took me a little while to get into it, but once I was, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a rather brilliant commentary on relationships and our perception of that, romance, loneliness and human interaction. The film is well-done, well-acted, insightful, extremely funny and refreshingly original. There were very few occasions where I knew where the film were heading, which is getting rarer and rarer for every day now. It drags a lit"

" The Lobster manages to be sad, funny, disturbing and frightening all at once, and in pretty much every scene in the movie. Yorgos Lanthimos truly possesses a style of his own and is one of the few directors I've seen who can direct his actors to act like planks of wood and somehow make it work. "
