The Lion King (1994)

The lion king is a masterpiece and easily the best Disney movie ever made. Great animation and excellent voice overs are key ingredients and add to the greatness. If you are going to watch a Disney movie or just a cartoon for that matter, make it this one.

"What do you want me to do, dress in drag and do the hula?" I still remember when I was a tender age of 3 and first saw The Lion King on the big screen. When it was released on VHS it became a film I watched almost everyday. I would not be alone in saying that this film was an essential part of my early childhood. Because I had watched this film so much I have basically committed every scene to memory. It had been about 5-10 years since I last watched this brilliant Disney movie. I remember watching a documentary about this film before it was released, it showed the amount of time and effort which was put into the making of this film. All the animals were studied to try and animate them just so, their world was analyzed in depth to try and capture it just right in film form, and i think they succeeded. Obviously, being a Disney film, all the animals can talk and form unlikely alliances, but that aside this film is a brilliant story using a classic tale of the prince returning to claim his throne from an evil relative who has stolen it.
