2011 Movies (47 movies items)" ~ No amount of great special effects can make up for the fact that this movie was all plot and zero character development. "
“A child prohesied to save the world by using the ability to bend all four basic elements and defeat the Fire Kingdom, who have taken advantage of a hundred year lull in law enforcement activity to pull a corporate takeover of the rest of the world. Now if you can read that sentence all in one breath, you just may be the last airbender.
I love this story line and I love the animated series, and so I cannot rate this below five stars. Sadly though, this is another case of finding the worst child actor in existence and giving him a lead part. Less than halfway through, I was already hoping that one of the water bending exersizes would backfire and the Last Airbender would drown in his own stream!
The other two didn't deliver as much as they should have either, but I'” read more
“Billed as a movie for kids, and the dialogue lived up to that, very choppy and overt. The characters weren't developed that well either. One character ends up becoming a sacrificial redeemer, but up to that point there was no development of that character. Special effects were decent, but Shyamalan missed the overall mark on this one.” read more
“I am so done with M. Night Shyamalan. This was his chance to bounce back but, instead he reached an even lower point in his crumbling career. I don't even know where to begin there were so many things wrong with the movie. I'll first point out the three things that I liked, The special effects were great, the cgi creatures were wonderful and I thought the spirit oasis Was beautiful. That's it out of the whole movie that's all I liked about it everything else was dreadful. The acting was so bad these people didn't even look like they were having the least bit of fun. The dialogue was laughable I wouldn't be surprised if it were written in crayons. The bending was atrocious in the show they based the bending movements on actual martial arts in the movie however it looked ridiculous, nothing ” read more
Hopefully Shyamalan's last ass-bender!
“I first saw the trailer of The Last Airbender in 3D when I saw Toy Story 3 in 3D and, quite frankly, I thought it looked quite good and a load of fun but after the very negative criticism it received, I put it aside and decided not to see it until the DVD release. However, when it was nominated for Worst Picture and is the probable favourite to win the top awards at the Razzies, I did decide to check out whether it really is that bad but bloody hell! It really is one bad film! It is based on the first season of the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. I mean, there are many films like this that have succeeded admirably but this was just an absolute failure in almost every way. What I truly hate about some films like t” read more

Why do people hate you so much?
“I really don't get the people who say this movie is awful, and I don't even understand his bad rate. That's the reason this movie is one of the most underrated movies of 2010.
I love Shyamalan as director of thrillers and, first, I was really scared when I knew he was going to direct The Last Airbender (something different of what he often does). My hope was almost 0% when I knew everyone was saying this movie sucks.
So it came the day I decided to watch it and make my own opinion.
And, please, this movie is GREAT!
First, I adore Avatar's cartoon, and the movie is like the cartoon coming to reality (thru an amazing way).
If you are one of the people who say this movie is bad because it is not 'real' enough, please, go to some rehab.

The 15 worst films of 2010 (15 movies items)"Artistically and critically speaking, there was no bigger fiasco this year than The Last Airbender, M. Night Shyamalan’s first foray into big-budget special-effects action-adventure. Clumsily adapting the entire first season of a terrific Nickelodeon animated series into a 103-minute live-action feature, Shyamalan coped with his time crunch by having the characters dully, dutifully explain everything they’re thinking, planning, or feeling. Flat acting and stiff directing don’t help matters"
2010 movies - Personal review and Awards - (22 movies items)"Notes: Honestly, it was not as bad as I expected. It was even better than "Lady in the water". Even though, it was still pretty bad and it is definitely the worst movie I have seen this year. "
An incomprehensible big-budget fiasco!
“"It was not by chance that for generations people have been searching for him, and now you have found him. Your destinies are tied, Zuko."
Coming off back-to-back disappointments with Lady in the Water and The Happening, M. Night Shyamalan has fallen quite far since the day in 2002 when he was declared "The Next Spielberg" by Newsweek. 2010's The Last Airbender seemed like Shyamalan's one last chance to win back his fans and prove that he still has the ability to craft a great movie. Alas, it simply was not to be, as the film instead denotes the continuation of Shyamalan's downward spiral. Working for the first time on a project derived from pre-existing material, the filmmaker was at a total loss of how to revamp the Nickelodeon TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender into a free-s” read more
