Charlie Chaplin's name has grown synonymous with classic comedy. Throughout the early 1900s, the extraordinary silent movie comedian featured in short films ranging from 10-30 minutes. These years denoted the birth of one of the most recognisable movie characters in existence: Chaplin's Little Tramp. There is little doubt that Chaplin knew how to put bums on seats. He also knew how to move his aud... read more
Perhaps it’s because I saw this one after watching his lionized classics like City Lights, Modern Times, The Gold Rush, and The Great Dictator that I found The Kid to be more of a beautiful introductory for what was to come than a film that packs the same amount of weight and heft that the others contain. Maybe it’s also because it didn’t make me feel as joyous as I was expecting from a Chap... read more

This was a classic. The idea had potential and it was executed very well. It was funny and sometimes touching. This reminds me that I need to see more of Charlie Chaplin's work."
"I don't remember what age I was when I first saw The Kid, but I do know that I was incredibly young at the time, probably before my kindergatern years.
So to the best of my memory, this is probably the first silent film that I can recall watching. Now, in the house that I was raised in, I was exposed to alot the Three Stooges episodes. And because of this, when I saw the black & white images of Chaplin's character with his square mustache, trampy clothes & worn curled shoes, engaging in either "

"In this delightful silent feature, Charlie Chaplin’s iconic Tramp character discovers a baby and takes him in. The boy (Jackie Coogan) grows up with the Tramp and they form a unique bond. However, as time goes by a series of events transpire to pull them apart. Will the Tramp and the boy remain together?
Chaplin is certainly one of the most recognisable silent screen performers and his tramp character has often been imitated but never duplicated. While The Kid is perhaps not as well remembe"

Cast : Charles Chaplin
What was it about?
The Tramp cares for an abandoned child, but events put that relationship in jeopardy.
My two cents:
It was Chaplin's first full length feature and, of course, it was a tremendous success. Back then, he was already a big player thanks to the success of this marvelous short movies but with this new long format, he was clearly displaying his ambition to reach some new creative heights. In my opinion, back then, Charles Chaplin was still experimenti"

Harvinaisen liikuttava elokuva. Unijakso on loistava."
