"We've gotta find some proof that Madeline O'Malley really exists before this place closes down..."
Ti West made a splash on the horror scene with the release of his 2009 shocker House of the Devil; a retro throwback to '80s horror pictures. West is recognised for his "slow burn" approach to the genre, though the style did not work so well for The House of the Devil, which ultimatel... read more
Surprisingly very nice and creepy.I liked the characters, the story itself, the location,it had the right kind of creepiness without being overly unbelievable.
"06/09/13 - House of the Devil is a really good movie so I was down for another Ti West slow-burn horror movie. That's what this was. It may have been slow but I was never bored and the charm of the lead actress (Sara Paxton) really holds things together."

I'd heard here & there that this movie was slowly paced, so I had no issues with it like some others had. Honestly I felt it worked well for the most part, especially since we're given time to get to know the characters before much happens. So many horror films have a tendency to put the characters on screen & throw everything at them before you've had a chance to learn anything about them, which for me is usually less effective (or not at all in some cases). And at t"

Odotin ehkä enemmän tunnelmallista kauhua kuin tällaista pikkuhassuttelua. En kuitenkaan voinut täysin vihata tätä, koska ne muutamat tunnelmointikohtaukset olivat ihan toimivia ja hahmot olivat kohtuullisen hyvin kirjoitettuja. "

This was a bit of a letdown. I really had hoped for more after seeing the preview. It's not that the acting was bad - because it wasn't. The bare-bones of the tale are promising but the story itself is flatter than a glass of week-old Coke. The payoff, the ending...the big Hurrah...left me feeling cheated, as well. Meh. ;( "

"A slow burn horror film with an ending that truly pay offs and made me go get my own asthma inhaler. While I didn't particularly care for Ti West's The House of the Devil, I found myself enjoying this film a lot. It's a carefully paced and calculated film that rewards ones patience with one of the most intense and terrifying climaxes I've seen in a horror film.
One of its best strengths lies however in its characters, who actually feel like they're real people. And while it might not happen "

"I love when horror films can convey its terror through a progressive build-up of a tense atmosphere. However, it can become a problem when this tensity turns into tedium; The Innkeepers, unfortunately, suffers from this problem. Its overall composition is great, but it severely lacks in focus and purpose. When the scares do come along, they are unoriginal and - dare I say - predictable. It isn't a terrible horror movie, but there are definitely much better ones out there.
