It seemed unfair that the richly beautiful Olivia De Havilland played someone she was entirely not: that of an unattractive, old-maid-bound heiress. There wasn't even anyone to compare her to in the movie. No Elizabeth Taylor or Hedy Lamarr to challange the affection of dashing Montgomery Clift.Of course, this is an acting movie.
