Good ol' 6 for the Sixties!

Not a bad film whatsoever, but very overrated. Yes, there's some fairly good actors, but it honestly still didn't help prevent this film from the 'dated' bug. It's such a film of it's time.

It only just got itself on the IMDb 250, but only just, and I'm pretty certain in a few years, it'll be off there for good. I think, in order to enjoy this more than I did, I think it would take ... read more

Fantastic Hoffman debut!

I would probably say that The Graduate probably is the most famous romantic-comedy of all time and it deserves to be. I have seen a few things that have ripped off a few bits from this film especially the relationship between Finch and Stifler?s mum in the American Pie trilogy. The Graduate is filled with a lot of hilarious comedy, drama and romance. I think that most romantic comedies have drama ... read more

Very overrated in my opinion. Dustin Hoffman is a great actor, but his performance here is just okay. Moreover, the development of the story is boring, the plot twist doesn't convince me, not even their characters. The end of the movie, which had the intention to be a surprise, came out to be completely unnecessary, and in fact it ruined the whole movie. A more realistic finale would have made thi... read more

A classic

“To be honest, it has been ages since I have seen this movie and I should definitely re-watch it at some point. Still, I remember very well when I saw the damned thing. Indeed, basically, since this movie had quite a reputation, I had some really high expectations but, to be honest, I thought it was a decent watch but it didn’t really blow me away. I don’t know, the concept definitely had some potential but, in my opinion, it could have been better developed. On top of that, I thought it really difficult to take Dustin Hoffman seriously as a student when the guy was in fact already 30 years at the time. To make things worse, he and Anne Bancroft were in fact less than 6 years apart in real life, even though she was supposed to be more than twice his age. Same thing with Katharine Ross w” read more
