The Girl Can't Help It

Sprinkled with a glossy coat of 1950s rock and roll pioneers appearing for quick cameos, The Girl Can’t Help It takes square aim at the payola scandal, America’s breast obsession and a satirical variation of Born Yesterday. And with Frank Tashlin running the show, you know that the whole thing is going to be a slightly bonkers cartoon, like a “Merrie Melodies” turned flesh-and-blood.

My Tedious and Asinine 2014 Movie Diary (143 movies items)

" Poor Jayne Mansfield. She never really could play the blonde bimbo role as good as Marilyn Monroe did. Plus she was using some mad ass fake looking butt pads hahaa. The only tolerable thing about this movie is the amazin title track by Little Richard. That's the only reason I even watched this shitty movie in the first place!"

The Girl Can't Help It

“Sprinkled with a glossy coat of 1950s rock and roll pioneers appearing for quick cameos, The Girl Can’t Help It takes square aim at the payola scandal, America’s breast obsession and a satirical variation of Born Yesterday. And with Frank Tashlin running the show, you know that the whole thing is going to be a slightly bonkers cartoon, like a “Merrie Melodies” turned flesh-and-blood.

Tom Ewell, taking his character from Seven-Year-Itch to its logical and insane conclusion, plays a drunken ad man on the way down the corporate ladder who gets roped into a mobster’s scheme to turn his pneumatic but seemingly talentless girlfriend into a star. It doesn’t take much to see where the satire comes in, and the basic plot follows Born Yesterday fairly closely.
