The Gathering (2002)

This movie had some interesting points, but by the time it got to them, they were completely predictable. For most of the movie, it seemed like two completely different stories were being told---the only common factor being the father of the family Christina Ricci is staying with. If you are looking for something with suspense, look elsewhere.

For a horror picture, I was not impressed. And I am *not* a horror picture fan, but I do enjoy thrillers. The plot looked good enough for a thriller. First I have to say that the entire family dislikes Ricci's acting, and here she is no better than in any other film she's ever acted in, she's worse than ever in our opinion. The photography however is quite beautiful, and has some nice scenery. The storyline unfortunately is quite predictable and makes the movie less than entertaining. For horror picture fans, look elsewhere. For a good thriller, look elsewhere too! Don't waste your time - or your money like I did. 3 stars is actually the highest rating I'd give this movie.
