"When it comes to ranking the Hollywood Golden Age classics, Howard Hawks' 'His Girl Friday' is a film you'll find riding high on almost every list... but not mine. Though I don't dislike it quite as vehemently as that other universally beloved 'classic' 'Some Like It Hot', I have several reasons for remaining unconvinced by Hawks' revered screwball comedy. Chief among these reasons is that it is a remake of a film I consider greatly superior: Lewis Milestone's 1931 Best Picture nominee 'The Fron"

"First viewing - March 12th This is the third film adaptation of The Front Page I've seen, and I'd easily rank it third of the bunch. That's not to say it's bad of course. I enjoy the story and once again it's told well. The lack of recognizable faces helped make the whole thing seem a little more realistic, but at the same time I wasn't especially impressed by any single performance. This time around I was bothered somewhat by the ways the men in the film treat the women, and I don't recall tha"
