This is one of those movies you watch, you keep watching, your brain really starts to hurt as you TRY really hard to figure out what is going on. Half way thru you're really frustrated because NOTHING makes any sense yet you keep watching it coz it's beautiful to look at. You're jonesing for the plot, to figure out the meaning, to go 'Oh, I GET IT!', but nothing... so by now, you figure that might... read more

Andrei Tarkovsky is generally called one of the greatest movie directors of all time. Why is that? Is it because he had magnificent writing skills? Is it because he somehow managed to pick the cream of the crop as far as actors go? Is it because he was able to direct pretty frames? No. It's because he could direct pretty frames with a meaning. Every single frame has been designed and well, framed,... read more

Anticipation: Movies I'm looking forward to seeing (27 movies items)

"Yep, I didn't yet see The Fountain. From what little I know about it, it looks like it might be a visual masterpiece. That's reason enough to want to see it. Viewed: June 28 2013 The movie was indeed a visual masterpiece. Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz had great chemistry, and the movie seems truly original. In the days where artistic cinematography is dying a slow death in favor of quit cut close ups and shaky cam, The Fountain is a visually rewarding experience. I can admit that I didn't exa"

"September 12 I've been meaning to watch this for a while. I didn't think this was a masterpiece, but it was an interesting movie. It's not for everyone, but it's beautifully shot and well-made."

Top 20 Favorite Films (20 movies items)

"Like with Christopher Nolan, I began watching more of Darren Aronofsky's movies after seeing Requiem for a Dream. This was my first one, and it's another movie that makes up for a weaker plot line with its essence (and a powerful one this has). It features Hugh Jackman in three separate roles-separated by five centuries each-who all are striving towards the goal of conquering death. Of course this goal is unattainable (a theme seen in every one of Aronofsky's movies thus far), but what drives"

Movie Diary - July 2012 (15 movies items)

"I'm not a big fan of Hugh Jackman in the first place. I don't hate him or something, he's just kinda indifferent for me. But in The Fountain it didn't mind me at all. I liked his acting and I liked his baldness. I asked myself for many times if I like the given atmosphere especially generated through the yellowish light. Everything affected me in a way, so it can't be that bad. I suspect that the yellow was used as an indication colour for dreaming but I wouldn't have objected it if there was l"
