"02.10. DVD, 1st viewing DIRECTED BY John Carpenter Should be as highly regarded as the other Carpenter classics, because it is a goddamn awesome film. Although I might've preferred it, if the villain were just the fog and it didn't manifest as some creepy dudes with sharp objects. But the film is classy as hell anyway. Kind of reminded me of the Lovecraft story "The Colour Out of Space". "

" Directed By John Carpenter Starring Adrienne Barbeau / Jamie Lee Curtis / Janet Leigh Tom Atkins / Hal Holbrook / John Houseman "

" This is probably the last really good old-fashioned ghost story before the horror genre drowned totally in serial killers and supernatural boogeymen who hunt down virgins. The great John Houseman sets the style at the beginning with his scary campfire tale and from that moment I'm hooked together with the great atmospheric music from John Carpenter. The fog (smoke machine) help giving the film a dream-like and creepy force on it's own. It is an underrated John Carpenter movie that is a lot bett"

"24/7/17 John Carpenter's creepy ghost story about a small coastal town that gets engulfed in a fog, bringing with it the spirits of a pirate ship. A master class in how to make a scary movie, with Carpenter refusing to go for cheap thrills and graphic gore, instead of leaving it up to the imagination. If you can get over just how quickly Jamie Lee Curtis and Tom Atkins gets together, this is a terrific chiller."

"Curses are meant to be taken, serious. Stealing from pirates, and failing to save them during a storm? You're cursed! Bitten by a werewolf? You're cursed! Get the idea?"

"Pirate Ghosts I know that they don't really exist, but try telling that to me, as a kid. It didn't help matters, that they come out of a fog, either. "
