Too lovable, Hulot-ish, funny characters entertains in Polanski's comedic translation of the Transylvanian myth. The cinematography and art direction make colors come alive.

The old bat researcher, professor Abronsius and his assistant, Alfred, go to a remote Transylvanian village looking for vampires. Alfred falls in love with the inn-keeper's young daughter Sarah. "17/5 Polanski's strong horror-humor film kind of reminds me of what might happen if Lucio Fulci made a gore-free vampire comedy. Fulci certainly comes to mind when the completely batshit bleak ending rolls around. It's very reminiscent of Beyond at that point. "Ridiculous fun! I just love this movie. Like From Dusk Till Dawn, I don't think it's an incredible piece of cinema but it is a piece of cinematic history. And did I mention it's fun?
