My only real excuses to watch this are Maisie Williams and the fact that this is on Netflix Instant. The plot though does sound somewhat interesting. This is Carol Morley's fifth movie, but the first one I've heard of. This opening song is already giving me a creepy vibe and it's not even a disturbing song. You can just tell it's an eerie atmosphere. So is there a bit of romance going on amongst t... read more

It's 1969 at a strict English girls' school where charismatic Abbie and intense and troubled Lydia are best friends. After a tragedy occurs at the school, a mysterious fainting epidemic breaks out threatening the stability of all involved.

My movie year 2017 (640 movies items)

"10.11. (Teatteri/DCP) Pitkästä aikaa tuli halu häipyä salista kesken elokuvan. Oikeastaan niin teinkin, sillä pidin lyhyen, hodarin hotkimiseen tarkoitetun tauon, jolloin tosin seurasin elokuvaa minimonitorista. Kauniin väristen puiden kuvaus on paikoitellen hienoa, mutta muuta hyvää The Fallingista on vaikea löytää. Leikkaus välähdyksineen, musiikit, lähestymistapa, tekotaiteellisuus ja yleinen mielenkiinnottomuus piinaavat filmiä epäpositiivisessa mielessä. Eräs vakiasiakas "

BradWesley123's Movie Journal- April 2016 (30 movies items)

" Netflix- 1hr. 42min. First Viewing The Falling is such an odd movie to review. There are certainly some excellent parts; the cast is great, the story intriguing, and I appreciated director Carol Morley's handling of mood and the ambition of the project. The problem is, though, the story just never clicked for me, never coming together in a satisfying way. While often a beautifully made mess, it's a mess all the same. My Movie Diary 2017 (217 movies items)

"8 March. The Falling refers to a mysterious faint spell that afflicts an all-girls English school. The movie has wonderful performances from its cast but the story is quite a challenge. And while its interesting in its own artistic way, its quite perplexing and a bit of a drag.  "

From The Superb To The Crap - Movies Seen In 2016 (284 movies items)

"The premise surrounding The Falling is intriguing. At an all-girls school in 1969, students fall faint following an on-campus tragedy. The fainting spells don't last long, but since fainting is hardly a contagious disorder, the underlying cause is unknown. Worse - and unsurprisingly - most of the non-fainters believe that the girls are faking their episodes. The main problem with this movie is that the fainting episodes are never explained fully to the audience. Rather than explore why the girl"

This is Carol Morley's fifth movie, but the first one I've heard of. This opening song is already giving me a creepy vibe and it's not even a disturbing song. You can just tell it's an eerie atmosphere. So is there a bit of romance going on amongst them or are they just those really close kind of friends? I guess they are trying to make sure we know our characters well. Not much has happened besides establishing our main characters, setting, and a few conflicts. It hasn't even covered main conflict yet. It looks like it's beginning. Hmm that's an interesting turn of events. The music is different and interesting. What the hell is going on? Hm” read more
