Edmond Dantes (Jim Caviezel) takes what he believes is an innocent letter on behalf of Napoleon. His friend Fernand Mondego (Guy Pearce) betrays him. well, one of the best movies i've ever seen, for sure.
sorry by the sucking english of a brazilian thirteen... but whatever...

the movie is everything we DONT expect. the way the guy scape from prision, every thing seem kinda surreal. its a combination of drama, romance, suspence... everything that i particullary LOVE. =)

'The Count of Monte Cristo' is a remake of the Alexander Dumas tale by the same name. Dantes, a sailor who is falsely accused of treason by his best friend Fernand, who wants Dantes' girlfriend Mercedes for himself. Dantes is imprisoned on the island prison of Chateau d'If for 13 years, where he plots revenge against those who betrayed him.
