Never Read The Book, Myself.

This movie had the same effect on me as The Prisoner Of Azkaban, the 1st Harry Potter film I saw. It's a project based on a book series that I not only never read but never really had any interest in. Yet, after watching the film, I became interested in it. As a kid, I used to think that sword & sorcery stories were supposed to be more intricate & more mature & more interesting versions of fairy tales. However, as I grew up, I found that the few movies that were made of this genre tended to fall short on either the fantasy or the consistency of the plot (for some reason, the idea of characters interacting with mythic creatures always seemed difficult for script writers to string together). But The Chronicles of Narnia seemed to be able to aptly pull this off, at least in the 1st part...Read more

A worthy translation

When I heard this was being filmed, I had a little checklist of things in my head. Things that the movie absolutely had to do right for me to be happy coming out of the theatre. They had to show the interaction between Lucy and Tumnus well. I didn't want Tumnus to come across creepy and squicky, especially. I wanted to see the scene between the Queen and Edmund. I wanted to see the presents from Santa, even if we didn't see Santa. And they absolutely HAD to have grown-up Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy on a hunt at the end. I was not disappointed by any of those scenes. They were all there, and they were all wonderful. Tumnus--what can I say? He was perfect and timid and just wonderful to watch, and the costume and effects for his hooves were perfect. Even his scarf was lovely. ...Read more

Four children move in a new house, and soon the youngest discovers a new world, Narnia, behind a wardrobe. What follows is an enchanting story between Good and Evil.

This is quite a nice adaptation to the big screen. It has everything needed for a great family time: imagination, fantasy, lovely children, and that magical feeling. The CGI is extremely well-done, the actors are splendidly directed and give truly outstanding performances, especially Georgie Henley. Simply amazing.
