Portlander's Movie Log - November, 2013 (41 movies items)

" Watched November 14th - Library DVD - 1st Viwing "Seems to be a great deal of traffic here for a country road, don't you think?" - Egbert Souse I closed out my mini focus on the films of WC Fields by watching one of his last movies - The Bank Dick, in which he plays a man who bumbles his way into being the security officer at a bank - the film incorporates almost all of Fields trademarks into its skant 70 minutes - overbearing family, annoyance with children, con artists, befuddlement and lot"

Filmsite's Greatest Funniest Movie Moments/Scenes (224 movies items)

"The words of advice given by Lompoc resident Egbert Souse (W.C. Fields) to his future son-in-law Og Oggilby (Grady Sutton) - "Surely, don't be a luddie-duddie, don't be a moon-calf, don't be a jabbernow, you're not those, are you?"; and the scene when he is hired as a vigilant bank security dick - he chokes a young boy in a cowboy outfit waving a toy gun - believing that he is a holdup man - as the bratty boy walks out of the bank, he ridicules the guard's shiny, bulbous red nose: "Mommy, doesn'"

Filmsite's Greatest Chase Scenes in Film History (83 movies items)

"This W.C. Fields film concluded with a memorable, zany slapstick, getaway car chase scene, reminiscent of the silent Mack Sennett Keystone Kops films. Egbert Sousè (Fields) was taken as hostage by a bank robber, used as a shield, and forced to drive a getaway car. Following in three other chase cars through the city and country were the local police, the bank president, and a representative from the movie company. It was a superbly-timed chase - the cars zoomed and circled around, barely avoid"

New-to-Me Films of 2012 (366 movies items)

"My first W.C. Fields film! The plot itself is very loose and had the tendency to fall flat at various bits. Besides this, I failed to be disappointed by the absurd antics of Fields, holding up to similar likes of comedy as Chaplin and the Marx brothers. "
