You'd be forgiven for thinking that all the advertisements for The Artist make it look exclusively like a throwback. Thankfully, this cinematic offering doesn't limit itself to just reproduc... read more

Considering that there was a rather unorthodox and unique idea behind it with a black and white silent film set in the 1920s being released in 2011, The Artist still provided us with the thought that it could become something that’ll renovate the birth of cinema, so to speak. With this in mind and having said that it is surrounded by all these colourful Hollywood dramas, action and science ficti... read more

George Valentin (Jean Dujardin) is a star of silent movies in Hollywood of the '20s but the arrival of talking cinema and the Great Depression changed the situation in the life of George, who sees his career to fade quickly, since the film industry falls rapidly in the era of "sound" and looks for new stars that will invest. One of them is the young and beautiful Peppy Miller (Berenice Bejo) which fr... read more

Seen in 2014 (230 movies items)

" Not only that I loved it because it's a tribute to my beloved early cinema, but it also has enchanting story, characters and moral I nod at. While watching "The Artist" I couldn't help but think of those actors from the past that either shared George's destiny or at least experienced difficulties of transition into sound pictures. It's one point of the movie that made me very sad. Influence of just recently seen "Singin' in the Rain" is obvious but I'm a little more engaged to this story bec"

"This is one of the most entertaining films ever made, it tells such an amazing and charming story, and one more reason I love this film so much is because it's a silent film in black and white. So amazing. "

Best Films of 2011 (100 movies items)

"A beautiful ode to the classic silent film era. Wonderful performances and my new love, Berenice Bejo. While it was all of this I still can't believe it was considered "Best Picture" over "Hugo". I feel like "Hugo" is in a whole other league compared."
