You know, for the first movie that Rick Moranis, or Dave Thomas for that matter, have ever done, it's really good. Anybody who appreciates art would recognize this as the SCTV version of Shakespeare's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, which is basically another version of Hamlet. Something is rotten at the Elsinore Brewery. Bob and Doug Mackenzie (as seen on SCTV) help the orphan Pam regain the brewery founded by her recently-deceased father. But to do so, they must confront the suspicious brewmaster and two teams of vicious hockey players.

This Was Shot In 3-B (3 Beers)

“You know, for the first movie that Rick Moranis, or Dave Thomas for that matter, have ever done, it's really good. Anybody who appreciates art would recognize this as the SCTV version of Shakespeare's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, which is basically another version of Hamlet. The plot has a lot of meat to it for a comedy, and the comedy itself is so funny that I laugh like a hyena at almost every scene ("Two bowls of split plea soup to go."). I highly recommend this to Rick's fans, SCTV fans, and comedy buffs in general.

"Rating: PG Run Time: 1 hour, 30 minutes Genres: Comedy Summary: Canada's most famous hosers, Bob and Doug McKenzie, get jobs at the Elsinore Brewery, only to learn that something is rotten with the state of it. My opinion: For the first movie that Rick Moranis has ever done, it's actually quite good. I laugh at almost every scene in this movie. Rank: Gold"

Favorite quotes from a film. (167 movies items)

"Bob McKenzie: I was the last one left after the nuclear holocaust, eh. The whole world had been destroyed, like U.S. blew up Russia and Russia blew up U.S. Fortunately, I had been offworld at the time. There wasn't much to do. All the bowling alleys had been wrecked. So's I spent most of my time looking for beer. Bob McKenzie: This movie was shot in 3B - three beers - and it looks good, eh?"

"Critics Consensus: Strange Brew is not without its rough patches, but it earns points just for having the chutzpah to attempt a booze-fueled take on Hamlet. "
