There can't be a single person in the civilised world who isn't familiar with The Addams Family, they're pretty much ingrained into popular culture. Maybe that's more of a result of the TV show than this film, but with such a solid set of quirky and memorable characters, it was just a case of getting the casting right to ensure big screen success with this adaptation. To start with, I have never seen the TV-show so I can't say if it is a good adaptation. All I can say is that, when it was released, there was some buzz around this flick, it was eventually a success and I really enjoyed it back then when I was a kid. Cute movie, with all the references you want to the tv series you remember. And with an updated feeling, that makes it a little edgier and hipper. Unfortunately all these gags can get in the way.
