Ambitious but subtle, dinamic but with the photographic quality of a tableau vivant. Nature and human pride or nature and history, are the main forces. I can´t resist to see in the ending in Stonehenge, the story of mankind embracing these two tragic, idiot and wonderful lovers

" What I like about it: a) Visual beauty; b) Good lead actress - Nastassja (or so I think) was the right choice to interpret charming and coy Tess. On the other hand, I didn't like her love interests. Actually, I found that relationship between Tess and Angel lacks of chemistry, so it wasn't convincing to me. And, most important, whole movie was too, too slow."

"21.8. I usually hate these kind of movies but Tess is actually highly watchable period chick flick. Themes of the story are powerful and movie feels like a Polanskin's apology for his behavior (all that raping, you know). Tess is wonderful charachter and I actually love Nastassja Kinski in this one (also in Cat People). "

A Complete review of Roman Polanski's work (20 movies items)

" Cast : Nastassja Kinski What was it about? A young strong-willed peasant girl, becomes the affection of two men, in the end tragically falling into the arms of one. My two cents: It was Polanski's first film since his arrest for rape in 1977 and it is actually rather surprising that he managed to make another movie so soon after such a scandal. Anyway, it was back then the most expensive movie made in France and it proved to be a financial success and was well received by both cr"
