Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006)

Diabolical. When I saw Ben Stiller in this film, I almost died. Then he went and did the Heartbreak Kid and soon I reckon he'll be in Freddie got Fingered 2!

This film is such a wind up. Every joke is predictable, every gag was replicated and two of the most unattractive men thinking they can nail chicks is just excruciating.

When will the world learn that Tenacious D aren't funny and their 'antics' make Rock Music only applicable to stoners and airheads.

Ive seen some bad Jack Black movies *coughs* Nacho Libre* but this one takes the cake. I sat through this movie watching the time wondering when the hell the agony was going too be over. Movie wasn't funny, the jokes in the movie were stupid.

Dont waste your time watching this movie. If you wanna watch a good Jack Black movie go rent School of Rock or Shallow Hal

The swearing made me laugh, the drug and fart jokes were stupid. It rocked preeeetty hard, but not hard enough. The opening scene with Jack Black as a younger JB was awesome when he was talking to Dio but it didn't stay as awesome through the movie. Too bad!

Despite the one or two funny moments, this movie was crazily wrong on so many levels. I like Jack Black as an actor and I enjoy 1 or 2 Tenacious D hits, but I mean this movie is just not good. The F-Word is used like a million times, there are drugs all over the place, and it is just overall not my cup of tea.

This is a must see if you love Rock Music. Not only because the Folkrock Jack and Kyle produce is awesome, but because this is a dedication to rock music itself.
As he already did width School of Rock, Black works hard on getting the Best Music Genre out of its niche and bring it to a broader cinema audience.
It plays with all cliches and features some hillarious ideas, like the "Rock History Museum".

If you have seen the Tenacious D TV show before, you already know some (ok, most) of the songs and gags, but that doesn't matter at all.

Watch it! Go to the cinema, rent it on your way back and pre-order the DVD.

I have to admit I did laugh more than once while watching this movie, but most of the time it was because of how stupid it was. The basic idea in the movie is that Jack Black and Kyle Glass are trying to get this pick that will give them the power to be great musicians. The pick is supposed to come from the devil and hence has evil powers behind it. (Ever seen Crossroads) The word "f__k" is used over and over as a noun, verb, adjective...you get the idea. They do get stoned a few times and maybe that was what I was missing when I watched the movie because it really didn't do it for me. This is a movie that would be worth waiting until it makes it to cable. I wouldn't even rent this one.
