Bruising action-thriller

"Some of us are getting paid, the rest of us are just getting dead."

David Ayer has established himself as a purveyor of gritty crime films over the years, with the likes of End of Watch, Street Kings and Harsh Times under his belt. Co-written by Skip Woods, 2014's Sabotage is not exactly fresh territory for the filmmaker, who dreams up a twisty action-thriller that's dark, repugnan... read more

"Only when I find my witnesses nailed to the ceiling."

I'm a huge Arnold Schwarzenegger fan. I have seen pretty much all of his action movies and loved most of them. But after his return to movies in the last few years he has yet to make another great one. This one however is a new low. What the fuck was this shit? I have never seen a movie with a more unlikable ... read more

I have seen four of David Ayer's films and I have enjoyed them all. The trailer really sparked my interest and didn't even spoil anything for me. The cast is full of interesting actors some of which are surprising to see. It's pretty gritty, brutal, and full of gory violence. It seems I have a great disagreement with many of what critics hate. I do feel that some of the characters were killed off ... read more

"@ Blu-ray Must say that, after watching it, I'm surprised to see all of the negative reactions to this film. I'm surprised by how few people have seen it, and how terribly it has scored on IMDB and Rottentomatoes. It's slightly shocking, and I can't really quite wrap my head around it. Is it because it's not exactly what people might expect from a Arnold film? Because he's actually acting in this one? Now, it's not a masterpiece, it really starts to fall a part during the third act, but up unt"

2014 Films Ranked (118 movies items)

"An ugly, soulless attempt at retooling "And Then There Were None," this film has a stream of the most unlikable characters ever devised, no one worth rooting for, and is grotesque just for the sake of it. Avoid at all costs."

Top 10 Manliest Movies of 2014 (11 movies items)

" Most of us expected more from this movie, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have any merit. On the contrary, it still contains some incredible shootouts imbued with Ayer's trademark brand of violence. Arnie is a solid anti-hero here as well, and the rest of the ensemble are badasses who banter and swear. Yeah, I liked it, though I would've preferred the original ending that's included as an extra on the Blu-ray. Ayer's original vision would've been better."

Hyped too much & didn't deliver more than the aver

“Not expected this from the director. For a title called 'Sabotage' which had one of our times greatest action hero in it the story drags with lots of drama than stunts. Arnold Schwarzenegger is not young anymore and he's not capable of heavy stunts, but still he handled well those crucial parts. No doubt he was good, and also the direction, but the story was not well written. Especially the twist was so pale and the supporting characters were hyped better than the Arnie's, but failed to hold and deliver when the story needed them.

Due to create the suspense some of the assassins were kept undisplayed for the viewers and that is another let down. Because in the whole movie action sequences were the weakest except the opening scene and those murders were somehow produced expectancy” read more

But after his return to movies in the last few years he has yet to make another great one. This one however is a new low. What the fuck was this shit? I have never seen a movie with a more unlikable gang of heroes before. They are all trying so desperately hard to come off as tough and cool that it just because unbearably cringe worthy. The group also have no chemistry together at all despite supposedly being the best of friends. Their playful banter just comes off as really awkward and the jokes seems like they are written by 10-year old boys that just discovered dick jokes. But then again, th” read more

I do feel that some of the characters were killed off too quickly. Some of it was a little cheesy to be honest, but that didn't take my interest away. The car chase scene has to be one of the most brutal ones I have seen. I thought some of the twists were obvious and some weren't, but they all worked for this movie in my opinion. The ending was awesome. I actually really enjoyed this one. I think Mireille Enos and Olivia Williams could have been bett” read more

Bruising action-thriller

“"Some of us are getting paid, the rest of us are just getting dead."

David Ayer has established himself as a purveyor of gritty crime films over the years, with the likes of End of Watch, Street Kings and Harsh Times under his belt. Co-written by Skip Woods, 2014's Sabotage is not exactly fresh territory for the filmmaker, who dreams up a twisty action-thriller that's dark, repugnant, and viciously violent. The movie also features the acting talents of Arnold Schwarzenegger, making a wise decision to star in what's essentially an auteur effort. Sabotage is not a typical Schwarzenegger vehicle, but rather a David Ayer film through-and-through, with the Austrian Oak playing a much darker role than usual. Although the end result is uneven and was clearly the victim of studio interfe” read more
