Apparently, it is an adaptation of a graphic novel which was a loose adaptation of a book written by Thomas Hardy , ‘Far from the madding crowd’. I didn’t enjoy much the movie adapted from this book directed by John Schlesinger and starring Julie Christie, Terence Stamp and Alan Bates so I wasn’t really optimistic. Eventually, I was pleasantly surprised by the beginning. Indeed, it was just really funny, I really enjoyed all those wacky characters and I thought it could lead to something better than I thought.
