I had high hopes for this film. Being a huge fan of Michelle Williams (who for me can do no wrong) and also quite fond of Seth Rogen and Sarah Polley, I expected something quirky, perhaps bittersweet, but a pleasant way of spending a couple of hours. Sadly, this was not what I got.

I found myself emotionally invested in this bittersweet and realistic look at love and marriage. For those who don't find themselves invested in the story I would still recommend this film for the amazing performance by Michelle Williams."

I've seen two of the films that Sarah Polley has directed, and what strikes me is that she makes these character dramas, which obviously have no big special effects or supernatural elements to them, yet she makes them feel magical. That's how I felt about Away from Her and it's how I felt this year about Take this Waltz, even on second viewing.
