"12.5. (Teatteri) Eksoottinen tunnelma ja Etelämeren maisemat ovat itselleni elokuvan tärkeintä sorttia, muuten Tabu ei oikein kohoa Murnaun suurempien hetkien tasolle. Parissa kohdassa, kuten haihyökkäisten kuvaamisessa, teoksen vanhentuneisuus uhkaa jo astua camp-rajan yli. Kerronta kuitenkin pelittää ilman puhetta ja tietämättömämmän riisto sekä yhteisöä terrorisoivien tabujen turhuus välittyvät hyvin. Tämän aikana joku tyyppi muuten huokaili teatterissa raskaasta ja alkoi"

" Godard once said Tabu is one of the five most beautiful films and I agree it's cinematography and story is beautiful. I initially feared this would show the superiority of tribal or modern societies, but the film shows the ugliness of all humanity. Tabu is well worth watching if you're a fan of FW Murnau and silent cinema."
