Kevin Spacey at his finest

This is one of the best performances ever by Kevin Spacey. He plays a vicious producer named Buddy who verbally mocks, belittles, insults and yells at all his assistants, with the vast majority of the mental torture aimed at his assistant, Guy, who only puts up with it so he can get ahead in the industry. But when Buddy steals Guy's idea for a blockbuster movie, Guy snaps and kidnaps his boss, a... read more

Now here is a movie for those looking for an attack on white-collar corporate office life, the spinning gears of Hollywood. And not overblown with big-budget special effects, scatological humor and saccarine-coated deluded big-screen implausibilities. For those looking for something really strongly written by a veteran of it's field and performed by pure-blo... read more

Well, here is a case of a film not knowing which one it wants to be. Uneven is a charitable phrase for this thing. Swimming with Sharks would have rated much lower if it didn’t have Kevin Spacey dazzling us in the lead role. When in doubt, just sit back and let Spacey occupy the screen as morally compromised or flat-out abusive and terrible characters he has made his stock and trade. Think about... read more

But that doesn't make Buddy such a nice guy, which his very naive assistant Guy (Whaley)is just about to learn. But when Guy learns a potentially explosive personal secret involving both he, his producer girlfriend and his boss, he's decided he's had just enough. Soon, Buddy will be o ... (more)

Moviewatcher122's 2017 Film Diary: June (14 movies items)

"June 19 "Life is not a movie. Good guys lose, everybody lies, and love... does not conquer all." This is a decent movie that is mainly enjoyable due to Kevin Spacey's role. His performance is what sold it for me and most of his lines were pretty funny. As for the movie itself, it's decent. The storyline isn't really anything new and there were a few scenes that I didn't really care for. I did really like the ending though and thought it was an interesting way to end it. "
