Yep. When it comes to comicbook movies, I am a huge comicbook nerd. And since, admitting that usually doesn't garner much respect out in the general populace, I only expect the best when a project interprets my favorite medium up on the big screen. B'cuz we comicbook fans don't need any more ammunition to makes us seem any more goofy than we already are. We can do that all by ourselves. ALL by ourselves. And with said, no matter what anyone says, this is the original gangsta of superheroes. Made in the 70s, but taking place in a Metropolis that's a mixture between the 40s and the (then) modern era. Reeve's performance is so perfect that he overcomes some silly, campy really, plot lines, instances of dialogue, and the costume to make us believe that Superman is real. Kidder gives Lois sass, and has a nice chemistry with Reeve, but her characterization in the film has always bothered me. Lois has never been that scatter brained. It's the first comic book film to take the subject matter seriously, and still a high benchmark for the genre. It might have been surpassed in quality, but nostalgia and its own merits have kept it high on the lists of the best of the bunch.

Superman is the superhero of all Superheroes. He can fly, can freeze things by blowing on them, has X-ray vision and has superhuman strength.
What else do you need?
